After a long hiatus, I’ve decided to relaunch HoloWorld.info. Although the rise of AI nowadays sparks debates about the existence and future of websites, I intend to continue updating this place as my personal digital shelter with an amateur spirit whenever I find the time.
This time, I did something a bit crazy and different: I’m hosting the site at home on a Raspberry Pi. Because of this, guaranteeing 100% uptime is quite difficult; if the power goes out or the internet drops, we might have to say goodbye to the site for a while. However, in my initial tests, the connection speed and ping times look pretty good, so I’m more than happy.
I have some big, radical ideas in mind (changing the site address, switching platforms, migrating all content, etc.), but I believe it’s healthier to leave certain things to time. Moving forward with small, balanced steps might be more beneficial. Ultimately, this project does not aim to reach mass audiences. If it can leave even a small mark on the more personal, independent, and quiet side of the internet, it will have fulfilled its purpose.
As of today, I am sharing the work I’ve done and my short/medium-term plans below, along with the first stable release:
Changelog
[1.0.0] - 2026-06-01
What’s New?
- Major Testing Finished: The testing phase, which lasted about 2 months, has been completed and the site is officially live.
- Markdown Conversion: All old posts have been completely converted into Markdown format as an investment in the future.
- Home-Brewed Server: To match the spirit of the site and keep it independent, a server was set up and optimized at home using an amateur Raspberry Pi setup.
- Security & Performance: The Cloudflare infrastructure was integrated to protect the home network and the server.
- Hugo Migration: Migrated to the open-source Hugo system, and all content was moved into this flexible structure.
- Custom Theme: A completely customized, lightweight, and purpose-driven theme was designed for Hugo with the help of artificial intelligence.
- Multilingualism (i18n): Old posts were mostly translated into English using AI, and the first foundations were laid for the site’s fully compatible bilingual (TR/EN) structure.
To-Do:
- A lightweight and privacy-focused analytics software will be integrated to analyze site visitors.
- A podcast section will be prepared.
- Performance fine-tunings will be made to ensure the site runs more stably, lightweight, and faster.
- A dynamic announcement bar will be added to the homepage.
