Mobile AR Game 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' is Closing on January 31
The formula that took the world by storm with the augmented reality-supported mobile game Pokémon GO and earned Niantic billions of dollars, unfortunately, couldn’t achieve the same sustainable success in the Harry Potter universe. The mobile AR game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, which was released with great hopes in 2019, announced that it has come to the end of the road through a statement made from official channels.
According to the announcement, the game will be completely shut down on January 31, 2022. The production, which will bid farewell gradually, will also be removed from the App Store and Google Play as of December 6, 2021, and closed to new downloads.

Such farewells experienced by Niantic in its AR projects other than Pokémon GO show once again what a difficult balance the mobile AR gaming market stands on.
