VR YouTuber The Mysticle tweeted images of Android applications listed in the Oculus Quest 2 library. It can be seen that android applications are located in the tab normally reserved for Oculus apps. At this point, for those who do not know, it is worth reminding that Oculus built an ecosystem based on the Android open-source software.

Although there are logos of applications like TikTok, Spotify, Zoom, and Snapchat, the lack of an image showing them in a working state is thought-provoking. On Facebook’s side, there is no such official information, and the low quality of the images also raises suspicion. To be realistic, an industry-leading company that has built its own ecosystem embarking on such a venture is (in my opinion) unnecessary and not very likely.

Despite all this, I couldn’t help but think it would still be nice if it happened. I wouldn’t want all android applications, but I wouldn’t say no to having highly used options from my Google Android library, such as SkyView, StreetView, or 3D shopping applications, available in virtual reality.
