Downpour Interactive , the creator of the multiplayer VR first-person shooter (FPS) game Onward , has become the latest VR game studio to be acquired by Facebook.

In a post on the Oculus blog regarding the acquisition, Facebook highlighted Onward’s success on the Oculus platform and cited it as the reason for the purchase. Following the acquisition, the Downpour team will move under the Facebook umbrella over time and continue their work. While no details were provided regarding the financial aspects of the acquisition or the team’s future projects, it was mentioned that they have exciting plans.

Downpour Interactive founder Dante sent a message to users that everything would be better than before, stating: “By joining Oculus Studios at Facebook, we can now realize the full vision of Onward with tremendous support and resources. This means a better game for all our players across all platforms. There are no changes in the hierarchy or vision, everyone at Downpour is still working hard to bring you the best possible game.
