60 Hz Hand Tracking Mode Comes to Oculus Quest 2
Oculus Quest 2 developers can now increase the tracking rate from 30 Hz to 60 Hz by enabling a new “High Frequency Hand Tracking” mode in their applications. Thanks to this feature, which was announced in a post published on the Oculus Developer blog, it is claimed to improve hand tracking quality without controllers and reduce end-to-end latency by 10%. However, they also added that 60 Hz high-frequency hand tracking has a side effect like jittering in low-light conditions, and they are working to fix this situation.
Additionally, they shared an example code block for developers to enable High Frequency Hand Tracking in the Android manifest.
These small changes made to increase the interaction rate between the real world and the virtual reality world, along with the arrival of the new version of Oculus Avatars, gradually thin the veil between reality and VR, offering users more satisfying experiences in the VR world. We will all see where this journey leads.
