Although more than a year has passed since the launch of Oculus Quest, arguably the most successful virtual reality headset to date, it continues to develop at full speed. As far as I understand, Facebook is striving to maintain this success as much as possible. Oculus announced in a published blog post that the platform’s multiplayer and social interaction features have been enhanced.
In the announcement, the ‘Public Parties’ and ‘Travel Together’ features were introduced as new features in the context of social interaction. By making voice calls, you can throw public parties with your existing friends or people you just meet, play games, travel in the virtual reality world, and have voice chats. The system allows interaction for up to a total of 8 people for all of these.
Taking user requests into consideration and collaborating with some apps for ‘travel together’, friends in a party will be able to “travel” together in supported apps without navigating through multiple menus and waiting for friends to join. According to Oculus’s statement, it will initially be possible to use this feature with apps such as Echo VR, Racket: Nx, Synth Riders, Eleven Table Tennis, Elven Assassin, Epic Roller Coasters, Arizona Sunshine, Cloudlands 2, Spaceteam VR, Ironlights, Multiverse, and Pro Putt by Topgolf.
Oculus, which also made developments on the Facebook side, has made improvements that make finding friends easier as well as on some privacy controls. The company, which continues to strengthen its shortcomings with the update estimated to be available on Oculus’s Quest and Rift platforms despite no clear statement being made, is already letting us know that further innovations are on the way…
