What is WebXR?
WebXR, one of the rising trends in recent years, is a JavaScript API that aims to provide VR ( Virtual Reality ) and AR ( Augmented Reality ) experiences over the web. The adventure, which actually started as WebVR in 2016, took the name Extended Reality (XR) with the addition of augmented reality.
The term XR means using AR or VR through mobile devices with position tracking features or technologies with head tracking capabilities.
WebXR, on the other hand, is a new API standard for web developers to create VR or AR applications without having to deal directly with hardware. Users can simply use a web browser to start viewing virtual or augmented reality content without the need to install plugins or software. Developers write the code once, and it works on all devices from different brands (Oculus, Vive, Windows Mixed VR, etc.).
