In a tweet, Oculus CTO John Carmack announced that Oculus Go apps will be usable with the Quest virtual reality headset by the end of this year. An emulator that mimics the software and hardware of the Go VR headset will be used to bring the apps to Quest.

Although it is not clear whether all apps will be ported, Carmack said, “We will work with developers to test the emulator, but I hope some will provide special ‘hybrid’ Go / Quest support for older apps.”

Meanwhile, it is worth noting as a positive development that features not available on Oculus Go (such as controller tracking, motion sensors, and high-resolution support) will be supported in some apps coming out for Oculus Quest.
