It is now possible to record yourself in the virtual world with Oculus’s official Mixed Reality Capture Tools. Yesterday, it released the official Mixed Reality Capture Tools set for Oculus Quest and officially started supporting users to record their high-quality gameplay where real-world objects and people appear in virtual reality.

Although high-quality mixed reality recording and broadcasting sound great, I must point out that for now, it won’t be as easy as putting on the Oculus Quest virtual reality headset and hitting the ‘record’ button. According to the official setup guide published by Oculus, you will have to put in some effort. Additionally, you will need various equipment such as a capture card, a compatible USB or HDMI camera, a green screen, an Oculus Rift and Rift S for calibration purposes, and naturally, a PC.
