Nreal , founded by former Magic Leap employee Xu Chi , is being taken to court for using trade secrets. According to Magic Leap ’s claim, Xu Chi is accused of using the information he obtained during his time at the company to accelerate product development at Nreal and of unfair competition.

In the petition submitted to the court, it generally states, “Magic Leap alleges that the overall speed of Nreal’s development, the total amount of resources (money and man-hours) available to Nreal, and consequently the design, function, features, and components of the Nreal product indicate that Mr. Xu misused and used the confidential and proprietary information he had access to as a former Magic Leap employee.”

Although there is a design similarity between Magic Leap’s Magic Leap One glasses announced last year and the Nreal Light Mixed Reality glasses, the truly important part of the matter is hidden in the technical details, which is beyond my understanding. With the widespread use of smart glasses in the coming years, perhaps we may hear more court news.

Below I am adding the published demos for the two augmented reality glasses. I don’t know how much is stolen, but it is undoubtedly clear to me, at least, that there is inspiration.
