Google, which has accelerated its work on augmented reality in recent years, announced in a blog post that it will launch ‘Augmented Reality’ supported ads on YouTube.

Stating that it is possible to tell richer and more engaging stories for consumers with the power of the 3D visual world and augmented reality (AR), Google announces that it will launch its new advertising tool this summer.

As the first brand to use this feature, MAC Cosmetics will be able to apply the new format to YouTube’s 2 billion monthly active users and measure the results in real-time. It is stated that as a result of previously conducted tests, 30 percent of users activated the AR experience and tried on the virtual lipstick for an average of 80 seconds.

3D ads are also coming

Evaluating every opportunity in advertising, Google will also introduce its new 360-degree interactive ad format, Swirl. Swirl is a new immersive display format designed for the mobile web as a 360-degree video. People can interact with every aspect of the product by rotating the 3D object in all directions and zooming in and out.
