AI-powered security cameras might not be as innocent as they seem
Today, the days of security cameras merely watching for thieves are behind us. Now, AI-powered systems can recognize customers and learn their behaviors. The US-based non-governmental organization founded in 1920 (American Civil Liberties Union) has some striking statements in its published report , bringing to public attention through a 50-page report that surveillance systems equipped with artificial intelligence might not be as innocent as they seem.
The fact that a lot of data about people can be collected with developing technologies and that this information is vulnerable to corporate abuse creates controversy. Day by day, the “eyes” behind dumb video cameras recording us will increasingly be smarter ‘artificial intelligences’ that will watch us and store every possible detail. The power of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and artificial neural networks has already become a top priority for many companies and countries. And unfortunately, when it comes to power and more money, somehow, stories are written that do not end well for ordinary people like us.
