Although autonomous vehicles are being talked about today, we still have a long way to go. It seems we will need to rebuild not only the cars but also the roads. On the other hand, a car is not just used to get from one place to another. It is also used for various purposes such as driving pleasure, as an indicator of ‘prestige’, racing, showing off, etc., and especially in our country, where some people even resist automatic transmission cars, I wonder about their fate when autonomous vehicles become accessible.

The actual topic, however, is the Volvo brand’s obsession with driving safety. Everyone already knows the situation. The innovation this time is groundbreaking once again. It is the mixed reality headset they developed using ‘Mixed Reality’ (a Turkish equivalent hasn’t been decided upon yet 😕 it’s also called karma gerçeklik [mixed reality] or zengin gerçeklik [extended reality]) technology, which they named ‘Varjo’. ( Volvo’s introductory article )

The Varjo XR-1 mixed reality headset provides almost real-time information transfer (it is said to have a latency of less than 15 ms) thanks to high-resolution camera and display systems (such as integrated proximity/depth sensors…). The glasses, which completely cover the eyes, bring other questions to my mind, but I will wait for the newly announced virtual/augmented reality headset Varjo to develop and grow. Let’s see how much it will be able to enter real life.
